Pics!

A few pics...just kind of random.

DeeDee's hibiscus

Guess who. Who would guess that he would be wearing a child's super hero mask...defiantly not something we have seen before...(hahahahahahahaha)

Joel a Kiroli a few weeks ago - I can't decide if we are going to do the surfer look for the summer or if I should cut his hair. Its so cute I think we are going to let it grow this summer.

Can not wait until vacation!

Barry, Joel and I are going to New Orleans the third week in June. I can not wait to get to the city. We will have a great time! I can't wait.
It will be too hot to visit the Zoo...we went to the Aquarium last Sept..so we might not go this time..unless I can bribe Barry.
BUT - On June 13 the Audubon Insectarium opens.

Maybe we can go there!! It looks like fun!

I can't wait!!!

Welcome Summer!!

It has been nice and sunshiny for several days this past week. We have also been on a small home improvements kick...really to the outside of the house. That is where Joel and I spend 80% of our time before dark.

Maybe in a few weeks I'll start working on the interior.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the current improvements!

Our new grill (Thank you Ms. Fay and Lowes) and our patio. Barry did most of the digging. I hauled away the dirt and I layed most of the brick. The 4 spots where there are big gaps are going to be filled in with quickcrete and our handprints. There is also a brick from Ms. Fay's house in Chalmette in there..we have 3 more, they are probably going in too. I really think this looks awesome...especially compared to what it looked like before. Thanks Mom for more of the green chairs! Also check out how high my glads are!! Next year we should have beautiful gladiolas all summer long. I planted them too late this year, but they are so pretty just as greenery.

Joel sitting on our new patio.

Barry grilling, before we put the new patio down...I am the grill master so far...Barry made one scary chicken dish..it was yuck. He has yet to redeem himself. He is pictured modeling with the bacon wrapped green beans. One of my favorite items.

Been busy

We have been really busy so I have forgotten to post, but a quick update...

I have my little photography company going, slowly but surely...I am starting off very small scale. I hope that eventually I can close in my garage and have a little bitty studio to work in...not full time, but hobby++.

Art! Joel and Harley did an art project this week while I was tending to my garden and watering everything. Here is one of Joel's originals. I did not help him at all and I didn't see it until it looked like this. I was amazed. It is so cool!

My baby garden
I planted a very small garden in a little fenced area that we used to have a baby pool in. I figured the fence is good to keep small people out of the plants. I planted it by hand and didn't worry about getting the grass out. If this works well, next year I might rent a tiller and make a 'for real' garden...but then again, this way was really not that bad..and didn't cost anything other than a few plants.
I planted strawberries, cucumbers, watermelons and eggplant. I hope it all takes off. I also have some broccoli and spinach seeds. They are for later in the summer....I can't wait. I love tending to my little garden and flowers. Joel helps me every day. I had a tiny strawberry today out of my garden.

It doesn't get much cuter than this!

Pictures from today. He is a cutie!

Worlds collide: the Island of Sodor & Radiator Springs

The other day Joel was curiously quiet. When I went to check on him I discovered....snow. Well not real snow, but a canister of flour...that has been "made" into snow on the Island of Sodor. Then...Mater, Sheriff and Lightning had to come help out. Spike and Larry (Iguana and Lizard) also had been brought in...it was a complete mess.

Just thought you'd like to see it.

Spring is Here!

Our azaleas are blooming, the weather is beautiful and bubbles are bountiful! Some pictures from this afternoon.

Joel's favorite product by far. I am glad its $1 and lasts a long time. We use quite a few bubbles!

Not only does my little perfect gentleman serenade me with Sally the Camel has 3 humps...he gives me flowers several times a day. Dandelions and other blooming weeds have no chance of living in my yard...not because I am a good gardener, but because I have the sweetest little boy ever.

CUTE!

Some of my azaleas. I LOVE these flowers. They are so beautiful!

Joel, the chick magnet!

Joel has been blessed. Barry and I have plenty of friends with kids right at his age, so when we get together with our friends there is usually a kid to play with that is close to his age. He is doubly lucky, because they are all beautiful girls with wonderful parents. He just needs to be nice for the next 20 years and marry one of them :)

Joel took Harley on a ride in his truck. And even more impressive, he even let her drive for a little while!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a great Easter. We had a wonderful weekend! Here are some of the pics.

Saturday - We went to the Biedenharn Gardens to see the Easter bunny. We had a great time!

In a huge tree in Forsythe Park.

Joel said the tulips smelled like Mashed Potatoes - I

My - what big puppy dog eyes you have!

Tough!

Sunday - We went to church and there was a big easter egg hunt after church. It was so fun! When we got home we hid eggs at home. We had almost 150 eggs at home (recycled from Church and school and some new ones) Our backyard was COVERED with eggs! Joel was so tired, he didn't finish picking them up, but he did have a blast with his baseball bat and bubbles!

Eggs a plenty. The whole yard was covered!

A cool Elmo egg!

Checking out the loot in an egg

BUBBLE horn! He loves it!

Stirring bubbles

Playing baseball! He actually hit the ball the first several times I threw it to him.

Crazy Weather

Last Friday it snowed. There was just a little snow, but it was snow. Yesterday (a week later) the high was 81!
Lastnight we had hail the size of marbles. Joel slept thru it, Rufus came and got in the bed with us.
Rufus hates bad weather.

Have crayons, will travel!

This week we went to two of Charlie's ball games. He did well. Joel gets pretty antsy, because he wants to play too...so to entertain him we gave him a few colors.
Check out where they ended up!

Chloe', Our sweet girl

If you haven't heard, we lost Chloe' on Wednesday.
She had been sick during the night. We got her to the doctor, they did all they could do, but she passed away around 9. It was a really hard day. She was more than a pet, but a wonderful animal and a part of our family. She will be missed. The pic from Friday (the post below) was the last picture I took of her.

Circus Fun

The Shriner's circus was in town. We had a great time! Mom, Barry, Cassandra, Lillie, Joel and I went. Everyone enjoyed it. Some of the tricks were amazing! Joel rode the pony. He was terrified of the elephant.

How much is the premuim for this guy's life insurance?
